To say there was a lot riding on the tenth anniversary QSi Awards was an understatement. For a start, the QSi awards are the UK’s longest-established Private Hire industry awards. They also cover the whole of the UK, rather than just firms providing car service london or courier services london. In addition, it had been widely publicised that we were the only operator to have won an award every year for the last nine years. We had been shortlisted for three awards and were desperately hoping that we could fight off stiff competition to take home an award which would continue our ‘winning streak’ as the only firm in the UK to have won one of these prestigious awards every year for a decade. But even we could not have predicted what was going to happen…
The awards we were shortlisted for were in the categories closest to our hearts:
- Private Hire Operator of the Year – for the absolute care we show our people and planet
- Sustainability – for continuing to lead the way, educate and campaign
- Community – for our work with our communities and the Think Pink alliance
The big night
Once again, Team GLH dusted-off their dancing shoes, donned their glad-rags and headed to the Hilton Metrople Hotel, Brighton. As we wrote in our previous QSi news story, the last ten years have been unprecedented for firms like us managing airport transfers london, chauffeur jobs london, london minicab and the industry as a whole – with many operators not surviving events such as the launch of Uber, Brexit and the pandemic. The future of our industry – and making a meaningful impact on climate change – will depend on our collaboration. So it was lovely to see many familiar faces around the room and cheer them on as they won their awards.
And the winner is …
We were over the moon to win the silver award for our community work – especially as much of this involves our work with charity Think Pink who were the official charity of the night and right there with us. We thought that was it and were looking forward to dancing the night away with our fellow operators. But THEN we also won silver for our sustainability work AND we won silver Private Hire Company of the Year!
But there was more!
Just as we were getting our breath back we were called up on stage once again to be presented with a special award for being the only operator to win every year for a decade! Other operators will understand how much this means to us because they will know all that we have overcome in order to achieve this and hopefully everyone who has worked with us will know the lengths to which our teams go to show absolute care in every detail of your experience with us.
“The very best in Britain.”
We wanted to end this on the words of Professional Driver Editor, Mark Bursa: “They’ve done it – for the 10th straight year, GLH has won a QSi Award! GLH has long been a pioneer of green thinking. As well as moving more than half its fleet to electric cars, it has worked with its customers in the film production sector to adopt the rigorous Albert Sustainability programme, resulting in a drop in CO2 emissions against a 25% increase in work.”
He continued: “Its community focus includes growing its work with local charities and NHS trusts, as well as providing an employee assistance portal where drivers and staff can get financial and health advice. In addition, the company has worked closely with the Think Pink charity to bring more women into the business. Only very good operators made the short list, so we can be sure our Gold, Silver and Bronze winners are among the very best in Britain.”
